Four Lessons from Posh Real-Estate Agents

High end businesses get to be high end for a reason. Behind every successful business is a hardworking and driven individual or individuals who have persisted with their dream. But the dream is not an abstract concept to these individuals for long. They back up the dream with actions and behaviours that lead to the realisation of the dream. Look at their logo designs. Sometimes that’s all you need to understand how they got from the dream to their reality.

There is a solid process going on. There is method in the apparent madness.

The good news for you is, the techniques of the successful can be learned and applied. For every strategy, ‘pre-selection’ is key. If it has been tried and tested elsewhere and it worked or someone else, there is a good chance it will work for you.

So what is this magic formula of the luxury real estate agent?

1. Focus on the right target

This may be counter-intuitive for the uninitiated. But think about it, carefully. There is no point engaging everyone out there if they are not necessarily the target you have in mind. If you are a high end business, for example in the luxury gift industry, there really is no point targeting the unemployed. ‘It’s a numbers game’ only applies if you are not sure of yourself, or if you are just starting out and are inexperienced.

2. Keep the attention of the target

Once you have gained the attention of your target market, you have to keep them interested. Otherwise they will leave your presence never to return again. Game over for you. Take the time to polish up your brand. Start with your logo design. Is it attention-grabbing? Will a prospective client feel compelled to stick around for a bit longer to see what you have on offer for them? Is your logo lingo free of ‘lost in translation’ issues?

3. Sell yourself well

Once you keep the attention of your prospective client firmly on your company, you need to deliver the goods. The best way to do this is to provide them with a feeling that they have gained something from interacting with you. Do not just ply them with whatever you have to sell. Give them an anchor that sets up your product in a good light. Notice that the posh real estate agent is not just selling a posh house. He or she is selling a dream. A lifestyle that is beyond reach to most people. Their customers associate their logo design with prestige. Whatever your product, you can project such a notion. With this little-known technique, you will have customers beating a path to your door rather than the other way round.

4. Maintain your frame

This is all about self-belief. This is about your realisation that you own your own destiny. This is about why you know not to target anything and everything in a haphazard manner.
